How to find brilliant CPD in one handy place

The online CPD pinboard - how did it come about?

I'm a Head of Department who is very keen to help my team engage with CPD so that we can always be better teachers for our students. We have a fabulous whole school CPD programme but I wanted to enhance this with some RE specific resources. Especially considering the 'RE World' is such an exciting place with so many advances being made in the teaching of the subject.

Initially I decided to share links to various short online CPD which they could dip in and out of informally, hoping this would start conversations about our practice. This meant adding a link to a blog/podcast/article into my weekly bulletin to the team. The topic of which was either something related to our current focus area eg subject knowledge relating to topics we would be teaching soon or assessment ideas when we were working on improving our model for assessment & feedback.

Issues with accessing CPD links

After a year of doing this I realised that it would be useful to go back to revisit some of these gems but it was frustrating to have to try to remember which bulletin contained which CPD links. I was using Padlet already for a Year 11 Revision resource and decided to create the CPD Padlet in the same format. This way, each link to a CPD topic is categorised and easier to find and go back to in the future. It will also mean new starters to the team will be able to go back to previously shared links.

Padlet Pinboard

The Padlet is an online pinboard which is set up using categories: Subject Knowledge (sub category for each religion we teach), Pedagogy (teaching RE, assessment/feedback and teaching general). It is easy to find what you need by scrolling through then clicking on the link to the actual CPD source.

Take a look at the CPD Pinboard

You can find the Padlet here. You are welcome to use this to create your own for your team or you can share this link with colleagues if you think it would be useful.
Now, in my weekly bulletins, I add the link to the Padlet then link to it from the bulletin. It's so easy to keep up to date and edit. The Padlet is a fab online pinboard where my team can find brilliant CPD in one handy place.
